The Johannesburg Centre for Software Engineering, located at Wits University is one of two accredited organisations on the African continent to offer CMMI certification.
The sector is at the forefront of the use of technology to address infrastructure gaps:
- e-Schooling, e-Government and e-Health;
- Prepayment for basic services.
Innovations include applications in:
- Mobile money and payment systems;
- Asset tracking and security;
- SIM based metering; and
- Wireless applications.
