General Cable is a Fortune 500 Company with 46 manufacturing units  worldwide of which there are 5 in Africa . Currently we have a presence in 25 Countries.
The Sub Sahara Office is based in South Africa as the Country is  deemed to be the springboard into Africa. Enquires and tenders should be  forwarded to these offices and quotes are then  sourced  for pricing, logistics, and  availability and is   quoted accordingly. 
Cables manufactured are used for  Generation, Distribution and Transmission for use  in sectors such as  Renewable energy, Nuclear Power, Wind power, Surface and Underground Mining, Oilrigs/ fields Utilities and Telecommunication  to mention a few.
Through  our South African distributor National Cables, purported to be one of the biggest distributors in Sub Sahara Africa,  we are able to supply cables to most international specifications .  Cables are also cut to suit the clients required lengths.
The South African unit manufactures XLPE to 33kv and the Zambian factory   produces mostly  low voltage  cables (building wire), and  is  one of the biggest producers of copper  rod in Africa .Copper wire,   Copper profiles  such as Bus bar,  Copper tape and trolley wire  forms part of their product range.
We are therefore able to supply   many products duty free  to Comesa and to SADC  Member Countries.
In France  cable to 500Kvolt is manufactured.  In Germany they manufacture submarine and  underground terrestrial transmission cables.   Submarine cables, OPGW  ACSR  ABC  PILC Rubber, HO5 &  7  Fiber Optics and XLPE  cables are standard manufacture at the units.
