Company profile

ID2 is a solutions-driven company that creates systems and technology to transform the lives of people. We have a vision to change communities for the better through improved energy management. To do this we have created our Advanced Metering Infrastructure, which promises unequalled control and cost-effective energy use for municipalities, communities and end-users, whilst promising complete revenue control and peace of mind for utility providers.

Our solution is designed, developed and manufactured in South Africa and consequently tailor-made for Africa.

ID2 is able to bring solutions to industry because we have grown out of companies with histories of technical excellence and reliable energy delivery. Our strength is human capital – skilled, highly experienced individuals who make our ideas reality. The very finest engineers, technicians and software developers form our team to bring a comprehensive solution to the world – we have had more than ten years' experience in designing and developing high-tech systems.

Importantly, we pride ourselves on being open and transparent in all we do. We are fair and do business governed by principles of decency and an unbreakable code of ethics.

ID2 is founded on a partnership between two respected and well-established companies, namely EPI-USE Africa and Kreon Technology. As the sole shareholders of ID2 they provide a solid technological and financial backing. We believe strongly in the power of partnerships; there are great benefits when different groups work together toward a common goal.

Product & services

One of the main considerations for implementing a metering system is revenue protection. A common misconception in the marketplace today is that revenue protection is a default property of any metering system. When considering revenue protection, however, there are several factors to consider in the design as well as the procurement of a metering system.

ID2 has over 10 years of experience in the design and development of high tech systems for revenue protection.

We believe that our solution addresses the revenue protection requirements specific to South African conditions. They are briefly described here:

  • Tamper detection and prevention: Immediate alerting of tamper conditions on both the meter and the meter container,
  • Regular meter reading with advanced algorithms to identify consumption exceptions and the alerting thereof,
  • Secure vending,
  • Detection of illegal connections and bypass conditions,
  • Energy reconciliation through check-metering. This could indicate theft or irregular technical loss conditions,
  • Customer care: This is the ability to give real time, accurate feedback to the consumer.
