Energy meters supply the raw data from which substantial revenue is obtained by the electricity supply utility.  If these meters are not sealed or are sealed with devices which do not form a reliable audit trail, the meters are vulnerable to tampering and the utility will have little recourse for action against incidents of meter tampering and subsequent energy theft.

Integrity Control Systems (Pty) Ltd is a South African based company, awarded exclusive distribution rights from ISO 9001:2000 accredited principals, to market and distribute a high quality range of uniquely numbered, tool-less tamper indicative security seals for utility meters & broader industry. 

Co-operative projects with our local utility, several local municipalities, metros & several African utilities, has broadened our industry knowledge and sensitized us to the unique needs of a complex industry.  Tampering of metering equipment (electricity and water) is regarded as a primary cause of non-technical losses in many regions.  This results in high scale revenue loss, compromised public safety, undermines the reliability, quality and sustainability of electricity & water supply and contributes to the wasteful depletion of a very valuable resource.  Tampering can be minimized & deterred through the implementation of uniquely numbered security seals and simple sealing protocols.

Product & services

A seal’s fundamental function, through visual & physical verification, is to help identify the point of liability in the event of unauthorized access and tampering.  A seal often acts as a deterrent to curb opportunistic or premeditated devious behaviour, which the culprit hopes will remain undetected.  If the seal is damaged, a void message appears on a self adhesive seal, the seal is missing or replaced with another seal, this will indicate that the integrity of the meter has been compromised.    Our range includes mechanical tamper evident seals, security bags, self adhesive security seals and allied products. 

Our service to industry is to apply our knowledge with a view of developing appropriate, practical and cost effective solutions to recurrent problems experienced in the electricity and water distribution sectors, in response to regional conditions & requirements.

ICS played an advisory role in the development of NRS - 096:  Sealing standard for electricity metering equipment.  Select products are Eskom spec 34-749 compliant. ICS is an affiliate member of the AMEU, SARPA, the PIESA, IURPA and the SAEEC.
