Company profile
The Zest WEG Group is the South African subsidiary of global electrical equipment manufacturer WEG, and the acknowledged leader in the supply of electric motors, variable speeds drives, transformers and switchgear in Africa.
Zest’s extended market offering includes low-, medium- and high-voltage, direct current and special electric motors, variable speed drives, soft starters, switchgear and transformers. It is the sole importer of SABS-approved WEG products, and its network of branches and distributors provides pre- and post-sales support as well as parts supply throughout Africa.
Zest has been involved in national BEE initiatives since 2004, and as per the continuous consequences principle has 10.4% black ownership. The Group companies, which includes Zest Electric Motors, Shaw Controls (manufacturer of MCC’s and containerised sub-stations), IMS Cape (manufacturer of diesel generator sets), Zest Energy (Co-generation & Energy Solutions) and EnI (electrical and instrumentation contractors), comply with BBBEE requirements, and has been independently verified by Emex as complying with Level 5 BBBEE since 2011.
The company acknowledges Socio-Economic Development (SED) as an important component of its corporate citizenship, and its SED spend is focused on projects and initiatives that are sustainable.
In August 2011 Zest was also awarded ISO 9001 accreditation by the BVC (Bureau Veritas Certification). WEG was the first to obtain ISO 9001 accreditation in 1993 and since then all of their business units have been included in their quality certification process.
